Yes i’m talking about Mendis, the man who destroyed the famous Indian batting line up like no one had ever done. Not even Mcgrath, Warne or Ambrose or even Donald at their peaks were able to torment the “fab four” for an entire series. Yes they have also troubled them but one or the other always rose to the occasion to resque. Not this time, there was no relief for them with Murali operating at the other end with equal precision.

“The middle fingered assasin” as he is better known these days made his debut in the series took 26 wickets a record and was rightly awarded the man of the series. He single-handedly turned the tide in Sri Lanka’s favour. In the end he proved to be the difference between the sides. He never allowed the batsmen to feel at home this was evident from the way he broke the dangerous looking Laxman-Dravid partnership in the 3^rd test.

Even though India lost the series I am happy for one reason that after a long time a bowler has come who atleast for now looks that he will rule the next decade after a decade dominated by batters only. His carrom ball has given a new dimension to spin bowling. I hope he continues performing in the same way but i know all the batters all over the world might have already started to watch the recordings they would be equally eager to demolish him.

The i-lab server is is playing spoilsport and showing its 9th aug but guys dont get confused its a date that comes only once in a millanium. The chinese consider 08.08:08 as a auspisious number so they decided to celebrate the opening ceremony of the first Olympic games in Asia today. I hope it turns out to be auspicious for me as well and also for India since i have my microsoft internship exams today and Ind-SL series decider is going to start as well.

THE MOTHER OF ALL COLLISIONS

This is a match that people will remember for all the wrong reasons but one should not forget that it was one of the best one day matches of recent times. It was a fiercly fought match with a nail-biting finish.
Scott Styris hit 69, Oram made of crucial 38, and Kyle Mills defied all odds to remain unbeaten on 25 but it all came to the last ball of the match when New Zealand held their nerves to win the match that was marred with controversy and emotions flying everywhere.
After the match was over the New Zealanders didn’t come out of the pavillion to shake hands to mark their protest againgst Collingwood’s decision not to withdraw the appeal for the run-out.
This match has again brought the ages-old arguments to be discussed again.
Firstly it again proved the point that on pitches with little assistence for the bowlers the matches will be more exciting.
Second ODI’s still has what it takes to be appeal to the spectators. Many doubted it after the IPL.
Third Did Collingwood did the right thing not to withdraw the appeal for the run-out. In my view this is proffesional cricket we are talking about and Collingwood was perhaps correct. With the series at stake i think even Vettori would have done the same thing in his position.

THE FAMOUS TWELVE of “BARAH KE THATH”

When they named it “barah ke thath“ initially i was little cynical about the name and i thought they could

have thought of a better name.but now i can say it “thath se” that barah ke thath was a great idea. now it has become a history.

our journey to the final and then winning the ruby cup could not have been more dramatic. this was the first time that a second year team has won the most talked about and fiercly fought tournament of NIT TRICHY.

THE BATSMEN

THE WINNING MOMENT :

we needed 2 runs of the last 2 ball of the inning to win. shushant was on striker’s end. here comes Shishir with the penultimate ball of the match. the ball was outside the off stump, shushant misses it completely. NO RUN.

now we needed 2 of the last ball of the match to win and 1 to tie. we were all praying for atleast a single. here goes shishir with the last ball of the tournament which will decide the winner (or will it be a tie).

Again the ball is pitched outside off. Again Shushant misses it completley.(oh GOD now what..).

Then Lakra (who was the other batsman) shouted his famous two words “bhaag bhaag”. Manish (the wicket keeper) threw the ball to the bowlers end the bowler fumbles to catch and they complete the run. Then Lakra shouted again “bhaag bhaag”. they were running for the second run. all the fielders were confused and fumbling they complete the run and thus the famous trophy was grabbed from the clutches of defeat.

today i completed reading the novel “to kill a mocking bird“. i have been reading novels for almost two years now but had never come across such a book like this. while reading it i felt as if my school days are back again.
as i have already mentioned the book won the pulitzer award in 1960. when i searched the book details on wiki i found that the story is somewhat autobiographical and it is no surprise since one can feel it in every word, every page of the book.
there is also some controversy related to the book, one of Lee’s friend had once indirectly claimed that this was his work. Lee wrote nothing notable after “MOcking..” which seems to vindicate his claim. but as far as i see it a book like “mocking…” can happen only once a liftime just as you have only one childhood.
climax seems to be fitting brilliatly to the theme of the book. i am looking forward to watching the movie based on the novel. as i have heard there has never been a movie reflecting as much close to the book as this.
my favorite character in the novel is Atticus. his charisma is all over the book. i had never come across such a character anywhere, the nearest that is coming to my mind now is howard roack’s character in “the fountainhead“. and again the writer is a lady, i guess women are better at creating such stronger characters.

this is the book i am presently reading. i have read only half of the book and i already know why it was awarded the pulitzer’s prize for the best book in 1960. it is a beautiful book about the childhood memories of “scout” the narrator. i will write the complete summery of the book as soon as i read it.

today only i created this blog and i could not resist myself from posting here even though i have not completed the book.

the features here at wordpress are great and i am really loving it. i feel like writing for ever…
